Providence ElderPlace is an innovative program of health care and social services for older adults. Our model of care is known as PACE (Program of All Inclusive Care for the Elderly). PACE programs keep older adults as healthy as possible in the community by providing comprehensive health care and social services. Providence ElderPlace is the only PACE program in the state of Washington. Recreation Therapy is an integral part of the Providence ElderPlace team approach to healthcare. Recreation Therapy Interns will complete intial and reevaluation assessments and create appropriate care plans under the supervision of a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist/Registered (CTRS/R). Recreation Therapy Interns at Providence ElderPlace will have the opportunity to work with participants at the Adult Day Health Center (ADH) and at their home. Interns work with families, caregivers, and activity directors of contracted facilities to set up appropriate home leisure including leisure education and adaptations. Recreation Therapists work with participants, families and caregivers to help participants maintain community leisure. Interns will lead a variety of groups in the Adult Day Health setting
