Overview: All Therapeutic Recreation Interns of the Lincoln Regional Center will work on developing the skills necessary for the professionalism and standards of practice of a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS). By utilizing their own field experiences and education, they will implement/facilitate Therapeutic Recreation practices upon all consumers residing in our Behavioral Health programs (General Psych, Sex Offender Services, Forensics, and youth Behavioral Health). Fundamental Job Functions: Observe and assist current employed CTRS’ in practice among patients, develop professional relationship with patients and staff alike, develop an autonomous APIE skills set, and teach positive socialization, communication, coping, and leisure skills to patients. Hours of Work: Therapeutic Recreation Students will follow the schedule of the CTRS they are being supervised by, as required by NCTRS certification requirements. A minimum of 14 weeks or 560 hours will need to be completed. Job Specifics: • Provide one-to-one interactions with patients • Learn/perform documentation of our facility (monthly and weekly progress notes, assessments) • Develop measurable goals and objections • Administer assessments • Plan special events/holiday programming • Plan/Facilitate group therapy sessions • Complete TR internship project • Attend interdisciplinary team meetings • Attend programming meetings (per building and TR department) • Learn treatment modalities • Learn budgeting • Serve on Therapeutic Rec.
