THE SCI FEMALE: WHAT WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN TOLD ABOUT SEX

OVERVIEWSexual health information for females living with a SCI is narrow and limited. Current literature focuses on the physical sexual response, orgasm, and reproductive health for females with a SCI. Females who are living with SCI have expressed that they now view sexual health very different than prior to the injury. Females have identified a need for a heightened psychosocial connection with their partner to achieve both interpersonal intimacy and physical orgasm. Data revealed information on sexual health during rehabilitation is untimely with little to no follow-up. Females stated that there is a need for educational materials with a focus on sexual health.

Errorless Learning: An Intervention Option for Individuals With Severe Memory Deficits

OVERVIEW: Individuals with severe memory deficits often have difficulty learning. They often are unable to benefit from trial and error learning because they are unable to recall their errors and the correct responses. Thus, teaching new skills or relearning previously learned skills can be quite challenging. Errorless learning (EL) is one learning strategy that can be effective in teaching skills to individuals with severe memory impairment. This session will explore the indications and processes for using errorless learning. Since an understanding of memory is critical to being able to identify when EL could be considered as an appropriate treatment modality, this session will also briefly review the memory process and systems.
