ATRA Annual in TR

The Annual in Therapeutic Recreation is the official research journal of ATRA. The purpose of the Annual is to further advance the body of knowledge of the therapeutic recreation profession by creating new knowledge and understandings in practice and in education. The Annual publishes a wide range of original, peer-reviewed articles such as:

  • Evidence-based practice/Empirical studies 
  • Systematic reviews 
  • Application of theories or models to practice and education 
  • Program or service evaluations/Case studies 
  • Methodological reviews 
  • Current issues and trends in service delivery or education 
  • Innovations in service delivery or education 
  • Practice protocols  

The Annual in TR is published yearly and available to ATRA members online as part of their membership benefits. Members may earn CEU credit up to five years after publication by reading the research articles, successfully completing the post-tests, and paying the CEU fee.


Membership in ATRA includes a subscription to our quarterly newsletter. Each newsletter is packed with industry news, occupational advances, and legislative alerts.

CEU Availability

After reading our newsletter, answer ten multiple choice questions about the content and return that page of the newsletter with $10USD to be eligible for 0.1 CEU or .15 CEU (depending on the edition).

Archived editions are still available for credit for one year. At any given time, the four most recent issues are usually worth credit. When in doubt, check the CEU INFO box on the lower left of the page preceding the test for an expiration date. Newsletters are only available to members.
